1. Published FinTech and Innovation Report 2020

In this report, we build on our findings from 2019 and provide updated analysis for 2020. In 2020, our Innovation Hub dealt with 41 engagements and 72 enquiries.

2. JFSC Business Plan

JFSC Business Plan presented virtually to more than 650 people. It reflected on 2020 and outlined key priorities for 2021. Both the 2021 Business plan and a recording of the Business Plan event are available from the JFSC website:

3. Independent review of authorisations framework

The review has identified that we currently follow many good practices and overall make robust, pragmatic decisions when vetting and processing applications. At the same time, it recommends a range of changes that we can make to bring us in line with best international practices.

4. Registry preparing for switchover to myRegistry

To complete the final preparation work access to Easy Company Registry will cease from close of business Thursday 18 February and Registry will be closed Friday 19 February.

Also includes, information regarding getting set up on myRegistry, the deadline extension and where to find helpful information and guidance.

5. NRA Accountants webinar

We have listened to feedback and to allow more people to attend the webinar we will be moving this event to Tuesday 23 February at 11:00. If you are now unable to attend, we will be sharing a recording of the event on our website.

09.02.21 - JFSC Update:

1. Registry - We published a News item on Friday with three key messages regarding myRegistry:-

  1. Preparations: these continue ahead of rolling out myRegistry and notes that we will let our customers know when they are able to register for their account.

  2. Annual confirmation statement: Reminder that the deadline has been extended to 30 June 2021.

  3. Local businesses: reminder that we have information and guidance available at myRegistry for local businesses and advising that we will be shortly be sharing some helpful videos.

The next webinar in our series of briefings will focus on accountants and will take place on Wednesday 17 February 2021 at 14:00.

3. Compliance Monitoring Programmes

We are reminding regulated businesses of the importance of effective compliance monitoring programmes, after we identified a number of repeated findings during our recent themed examination, the results of which were published in December 2020, Compliance monitoring examination: Feedback.

Overall, the findings highlighted a number of the businesses were not adhering to the guidance we published in December 2013.

04.02.21 - Jersey Financial Services Commission (the “JFSC”) is launching its annual business plan on Thursday 11th February 2021.

04.02.21 - Jersey Office of the Information Commissioner renewal window is now open, with renewals due by 28th February 2021.

01.02.21 - Amendments to Jersey's sanctions regime:

On 29 January 2021, the Minister for External Relations made the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Implementation of External Sanctions) (Jersey) Order 2021 which comes into force on 12 February 2021. From this date, Jersey will give effect to United Nations Security Council Resolutions and autonomous UK sanctions regimes and will continue to implement all UNSC, UK, and EU terrorist asset-freeze designations.

26.01.21 - Jersey Financial Services Commission (the “JFSC”) Registry closed on Friday 29th January to prepare for switchover to myRegistry.

06.01.21 – Jersey Financial Services Commission (the “JFSC”) launches myRegistry on 6th January 2021.
